Terps "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes"

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland Athletics staff and student-athletes, including men's lacrosse head coach John Tillman, took part in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event held on campus to raise awareness about men's sexualized violence against women and its devastating impact.

Participants walked a mile (barely!) in women's high-heeled shoes around McKeldin Mall to help generate discussion about sexual violence against women.

“We know that athletes are seen as leaders on campus, so it's nice to see them use that leadership to help spread awareness for important issues like sexual assault and relationship violence,” said Kevin Webb, training manager in the University of Maryland's office of civil rights and sexual misconduct.

Tillman and other participants echoed Webb's sentiments, as they drew the attention of passerby between classes.

“It's always important to be involved on campus with worthy causes and I was happy to play a small part in this great event,” Tillman said.
