#9/10 Terrapins Travel to George Washington Wednesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. –  The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (2-0) will travel across town to play at George Washington (1-1) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Colonials' Charles E. Smith Center.

The Terps-Colonials matchup will be streamed online through ESPN+. Live stats will be available and fans can also follow live updates on the Terrapins' Twitter feed here.

Junior Kaila Charles and freshman Shakira Austin both earned early season honors Monday.

Charles is one of 50 players in the nation named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Women's Watch List. She led the Terrapins in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (6.8) last year as a sophomore. Charles needs to score 18 points to become the 33rd Terrapin to reach 1,000 career points.

In her first week as a Terrapin, Austin was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. She wasted no time making her presence known, averaging 13.0 points, 13.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game in her first two contests at Maryland.

This is the eighth meeting between Maryland and George Washington, with the Terps owning the series at 6-1. The Terrapins are 1-1 at GW. They took last year's meeting in College Park, 80-54 on Dec. 8. Blair Watson led five Terps in double figures with 19 points.

Maryland held off Dayton, 82-71, Sunday in College Park. Charles led the way with 22 points, 5 boards and 4 assists. Taylor Mikesell scored 15 points, Austin and Blair each added 14 and Stephanie Jones chipped in 11.

Maryland is ranked No. 9 Associated Press poll and No. 10 in the USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches Preseason Poll.

After Wednesday's matchup, the Terrapins will travel to No. 10/11 South Carolina (1-0) for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off Sunday at the Gamecock's Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. The Maryland-South Carolina game will be televised around the world on ESPN, the Watch ESPN app and WatchESPN.com.
