Makhi Mitchell: "I'm making the right decision to attend Maryland and I feel great about it. Over the next four years I am going to do my best and be coached by the best. Maryland has been my dream school ever since they were the first to start recruiting me early on. I've seen the success of guys like Melo Trimble, Kevin Huerter and Justin Jackson. I really like Coach Turgeon's coaching style and the way he bases his program around his players' skill sets. He is a great person."
Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "Makhi is a very versatile player who will come in as a four, but also has the ability to play the five. He handles the ball well, is a great passer and is an efficient scorer around the basket. He has great hands and catches and rebounds everything that comes his way."
Angelo Hernandez, Head Coach at Woodrow Wilson: "Makhi brings great leadership – I think it's his best quality. It's one of the biggest things he's brought to our team this year. He has the skillset of a guard and is a great shooter. He's really crafty with the ball. He's a great passer. He's just an overall good player and a great student in the classroom."
John Perry, AAU Coach DC Premier: "Makhi has great skill and toughness. He can play away from the basket and with his back to the basket. He loves the opportunity to take on other big men and never shies away from a challenge."
Corey Evans, 247Sports Basketball Recruiting Analyst: "Makhi has a visibly polished skill set that will translate to the college game. He's done a great job getting his body right before he gets to college. He's a killer of a producer when it comes to making shots, rebounding, passing and blocking shots. He's everything you look for in college basketball as an immediate cog in the interior."
Brian Snow, 247Sports Basketball Recruiting Analyst: "Makhi Mitchell is a skilled big man who can certainly play center and some power forward. He has range that extends to about 18-feet. He can handle the ball off the dribble and he's also a good rebounder. He needs to continue to improve on his possession-to-possession focus, but he has the potential to be an impact player in the Big Ten."

What they're saying about the Mitchell twins:
Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "Makhel and Makhi have been extremely loyal throughout the recruiting process and our staff has enjoyed watching them grow and mature as young men. Both Makhel and Makhi are great students in the classroom with a sincere love for the game of basketball and I can't wait to see them thrive as Terrapins."
Maria Mitchell, Mother of Makhel and Makhi: "I am so excited for Makhel and Makhi. I've been waiting for this day for so long. They have been working hard at their craft for so long and they've come so far. I've always wanted them to stay home and play for the home team, so I am glad Maryland showed interest from such an early age. I loved Maryland's recruitment process. I like how Maryland is very family-oriented and the school has so much to offer to the twins. Makhel and Makhi can bring a lot to Maryland. We plan on coming to Maryland to win and bring a championship back where it belongs!"
