CONWAY, S.C. – Senior Kevin Biondic and junior Nick Dunn both notched three-hit games as the Maryland baseball team downed Radford, 11-4, in the first game of the Johnny Gardner Law Group Tournament at Springs Brooks Stadium Friday.

The Terrapins (5-4) held a 2-1 lead for most of the game before Radford tied it with a run in the bottom of the seventh. The Terps would score nine times in their final two offensive innings to secure the win. Maryland starter Taylor Bloom was solid and earned the win after tossing eight innings and allowing three earned runs.

After a Radford unearned run in the second, the Terps tied the ballgame in the third. Marty Costes brought in Richie Schiekofer with a sac fly after the freshman had reached on a walk. Schiekofer's first career RBI gave Maryland the lead in the fourth.

Bloom was spectacular, at one point retiring nine consecutive Highlanders. He gave up a two-run homer in the eighth after Maryland built a six-run lead, but mostly kept the Radford hitters off balance throughout.

The Terps offense came alive after Radford tied the ballgame in the seventh. Junior AJ Lee opened the inning with a triple before scoring on Biondic's triple. Biondic then scored on a wild pitch.

After walks loaded the bases, Zach Jancarski lifted a sac fly to score Will Watson. Dunn the smashed a three-run homer to right field, his fourth of the season. In the eighth, freshman Randy Bednar matched Dunn with a three-run bomb of his own.

Biondic, who played a fantastic defensive first base for eight innings, pitched an inning of scoreless relief to finish off the game.

Maryland will play its second game of the Johnny Gardner Law Group Tournament Saturday at 3 p.m. against the host Coastal Carolina. Fans can watch the matchup via Coastal Carolina's live stream or listen on the Maryland Baseball Network.
