COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Following his complete game, two-hit shutout, Maryland junior Hunter Parsons earned multiple weekly honors; Perfect Game/Rawlings National Pitcher of the Week and Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week.
Parsons was dominant against Stetson in a rubber game Sunday, striking out nine and walking none over the full nine innings. Parsons faced just three batters above the minimum and completed the start in just 101 pitches. He retired the first 11 batters he faced.
Both honors were the first of Parsons' career. In his last four starts, Parsons has a 0.84 ERA over 32 innings pitched and has struck out 23 to just three walks. Opponents are batting just .188 against him over that stretch.
Maryland returns to action this weekend against Northwestern. Game one is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.
