Terps Drop Sunday Game With Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Junior Taylor Wright and senior Kevin Biondic hit solo home runs, but the Maryland baseball team fell 6-3 to Michigan at Ray Fisher Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Terrapins (16-19, 3-5 Big Ten) took a lead in the top of the second on Wright's solo homer, but lost the lead in the bottom half and didn't regain it. Sophomore lefty Tyler Blohm started the contest, but was removed after the first due to an injury.

Wright's home run in the second was the first of his Maryland career. Right hander John Murphy entered for Blohm in the second and allowed four runs in his lone inning of work. Hunter Parsons took over for Murphy in the third and went the rest of the way, striking out seven and allowing two runs in five innings of work.

Biondic cut into the deficit with his fifth long ball of the year in the top of the sixth. Maryland trailed 6-2 entering the ninth, before loading the bases with one out. All the Terps would get was AJ Lee scoring on a balk.

Maryland returns to action Tuesday at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium against VCU. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
