COLLEGE PARK, Md. - For the fourth time this season, sophomore defender Lizzie Colson was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
In wins over Georgetown and Michigan this past week, Colson led the team with caused turnovers, totaling five, while also posting a career-best and leading the team with seven draw controls in the 16-9 win over Michigan on Saturday. Over the two games, Colson was second on the team with 11 draw controls and four groundballs.
The sophomore has been essential to a defense that has held opposing offenses to single digit goals in four of the past five games, including both games this past week.
On the season, Colson leads the team in both groundballs (25) and caused turnovers (15) and stands third with 38 draw controls.
This is the fourth time this season Colson has received Defensive Player of the Week recongition, the most in the conference.
