
Terps Begin Fall Season at 15th Annual Cougar Classic

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's golf team will travel to Charleston, S.C. this weekend to compete in the 15th Annual Cougar Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston.
The Terrapins will compete Sunday, September 9 through Tuesday, September 11 at the Yeamans Hall Club, a par-72, 6,261-yard course.

The Terrapins will compete against five top-25 teams in No. 3 Arkansas, No. 8 Furman, No. 12 Florida, No. 14 Wake Forest, and No. 25 Vanderbilt. The tournament will host 19 teams total including Baylor, Boston College, hosts College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Florida State, Georgetown, Indiana, LSU, North Carolina, NC State, Penn State, Tennessee and UCF.
This is the Terrapins first outing of the 2018-2019 season. Five golfers will represent the Terrapins, sophomore Virunpat Olankikunchai, junior Xiaolin Tian, sophomore Charlotte Lafourcade, senior Ludovica Farina and freshman Elena Verticchio.
Three Terps earned 2018 Big Ten Preseason Honors, senior Ludovica Farina, junior Xiaolin Tian and sophomore Laura Van Respaille.
Last season ended with the Terrapins tied for second at the 2018 Big Ten Tournament where the team finished with a one-under-par team score of 863 (288-280-295).
