CHAMPAIGN ILL. – The Maryland gymnastics team earned season high scores on bars and beam with junior
Kirsten Peterman posting matching her personal best beam score of 9.825. The Terps ultimately fell to the Illini 194.950-195.075.
The GymTerps posted season high scores on bars (49.100) and beam (48.900).
"Im really impressed with this team and how tough we are," said head coach
Brett Nelligan." Our goal from the beginning was to come out from beginning to end and fight for every tenth. To come in, second meet of the year and go 24 for 24 on the road against a really good Big Ten team. It showed a lot of potential for the future."
Maryland started the meet on bars led off by sophomore
Emilie LeBlanc who posted 9.825. Sophomore
Audrey Barber nailed her routine to earn a 9.850 and junior Aleica Farina held the highest score for the Terrapins with 9.875. Freshman
Alexsis Rubio anchored on vault for a new career-best 9.775.
Barber's exciting floor routine earned her a 9.800 to lead the Terps on floor followed by sophomores
Sabriyya Rouse (9.775) and
Collea Burgess (9.750).
The GymTerps set a new season best on beam with top performances from juniors

Tiara Wright (9.825) and sophomores
Audrey Barber (9.775) and
Emilie LeBlanc (9.750).
"We came to this last event with all the pressure with the meet on the line and they not only survived, they thrived on beam, for me that's bigger than a win," said Nelligan.
Maryland returns to action in just one week when they host Michigan in the XFINITY Center on Saturday, January 26 at 7 p.m. The meet will be televised on BTN+.
