GymTerps to host No. 8 Michigan in Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland Gymnastics team is set to host Big Ten opponent No. 8 Michigan on Saturday night. Fans are encouraged to wear purple to support Cystic Fibrosis Awareness.

This is the Big Ten home opener for the GymTerps and the meet will stream on BTN2go and live stats will be available here.

"We took a huge step forward by going 24 for 24 against Illinois," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "Now we go back, watch the film, identify where we gave away tenths and try to cut those tenths in half or maybe even less and that how you can really attack a team like Michigan."

Last Time Out

The Terrapins scored a 194.950 in their last outing in Illinois with season best team scores on bars (49.100) and beam (48.900). Maryland is currently ranked 14th on uneven bars entering their third meet of the season.

Junior Kirsten Peterman matched her career best on beam scoring a 9.825 with fellow junior Tiara Wright matching the score. All-around sophomore Audrey Barber scored a 9.800 or higher on two events, bars and floor, to tally a season best all-around 38.925.

Freshman Alexsis Rubio continues to impress on vault, besting herself with a 9.775.

"Going into next week we just need to do the same exact thing we did against Illinois," said Wright. "Fix the little things and work off what we did last week, and we'll be unstoppable."

Scouting the Wolverines

The No. 8 ranked Michigan enters this week's competition ranked No. 3 on vault, No. 8 on bars and No. 14 on beam.

The Wolverines come off a home victory over Michigan State 195.975-194.050.

Freshman Natalie Wojcik won the uneven bars scoring a 9.900 and beam (9.950) to claim the all-around title (39.325).
