ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Maryland women's lacrosse team, who last year won both the Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament Titles, was unanimously selected to win the Big Ten Championship in the preseason coaches' poll, as announced by the conference Monday.
The Terps have won the last four Big Ten regular season titles and have not lost a regular season game in conference play since joining the conference for the 2015 season. Maryland has also won the previous three Big Ten Tournament titles, last year defeating Penn State in the Championship.
A trio of seniors: defender Julia Braig, goalie Megan Taylor and midfielder Jen Giles were named Maryland's Big Ten Players to Watch.
Maryland returns the Big Ten Defender of the Year Julia Braig, Big Ten Goaltender of the Year Megan Taylor and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year Grace Griffin. Cathy Reese was also named the Big Ten Coach of the Year for the third straight year.
The Terrapins will open the 2019 season against George Mason at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium on Saturday, February 9 at 3:00 PM.
