
#10 Maryland Hosts Wisconsin Thursday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The 10th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (18-2, 7-2 B1G) will return home to host Wisconsin (11-10, 2-7) Thursday at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center.
The Terrapins will partner with Play4TheCure at Thursday's game. Play4TheCure is a fundraising platform for the National Foundation for Cancer Research which provides funding worldwide to the best scientists to enable cutting edge research that other large cancer organizations can't and won't fund. Play4TheCure inspires young athletes and their teams to leverage their passion for sports to "Play4" loved ones affected by cancer and encourages them to actively participate in working to fund cancer research to make a difference.
Fans can donate with proceeds going to the National Foundation for Cancer Research here. Fans can show their donation receipt to the Terrapin Ticket Office on game day to receive a $4 discounted ticket to the game. A silent auction will also be available at Gate B.
Thursday's game is also Testudo Bobblehead night. All fans in attendance will receive a scratch off ticket upon entry into the arena. Five hundred lucky fans will take home a Testudo bobblehead. Click here for tickets.
The Terps-Badgers game will be streamed online around the world at BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app. Fans can watch with their BTN Plus subscriptions. Live stats will be available.
The Terrapins are 6-0 vs. the Badgers. Most recently, Maryland beat Wisconsin, 71-44 in Madison on Jan. 7 last year. Maryland is 2-0 against Wisconsin at home in the XFINITY Center.
The Terps used a 19-3 second quarter run to dominate Indiana, 76-56, Sunday in Bloomington. Junior Kaila Charles rattled off 12 straight points in the first half and scored a season-high 25 with 11 boards to lead Maryland. Junior Stephanie Jones scored 20 points for the second straight game, and freshman Taylor Mikesell added 13 points.
Mikesell earned her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor Monday after she averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in the Terps' two wins last week. Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week honor roll for the fifth time in her career.
Maryland is in the top 10 nationally in rebounding margin (+10.3) and defensive rebounds (30.0). Sophomore Channise Lewis leads the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (2.6) and is No. 3 in assists (5.0).
Mikesell leads the league in threes made with 61 and needs 11 more made threes to top Maryland's freshman record. Freshman Shakira Austin is second in the Big Ten and fifth in the country in total blocks (55). Jones is third in the Big Ten and 12th in the country in field goal percentage (.613). Charles is No. 5 in the Big Ten in scoring (16.1).
After Thursday's game, the Terrapins will play at Illinois (9-11, 1-8) Monday at 7:30 p.m. ET in Champaign. The Terps-Illini game will be televised around the world on the Big Ten Network.
