
#9 Maryland Travels to #13 NC State for Challenge

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will travel to Raleigh, N.C. this week to take on No. 13 North Carolina State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Terps (7-1) and the Wolfpack (8-0) will tip off at 7 p.m. Thursday at James T. Valvano Arena at Reynolds Coliseum.

The Terrapins are 11-1 all-time in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and 5-1 on the road. In last year's Challenge, Maryland beat Georgia Tech, 67-54, in College Park on Nov. 29. Their last road win was a 60-59 victory at Virginia two years ago.
Senior Blair Watson earned her first career weekly honor Monday as she was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll. She averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and shot 57% (8-for-14) from outside the arc in the Terps' two wins in Florida.
Maryland has won six straight games, the last five with an average margin of victory of +43.2. In that stretch, the Terrapins have held their opponents to 46.2 points per game, while scoring 89.4 themselves. The Terps have also forced 26.0 turnovers in that five-game stretch.

Last time out, the Terrapins dominated Belmont, 96-20, Saturday in the Daytona Beach Invitational. Maryland went on a 40-0 run over the third and fourth quarter to dominate the Bruins. Belmont scored just 9 points in the second half as the Terps forced 28 total turnovers. Kaila Charles led the way with a season-high 20 points. Ashley Owusu picked up her first career double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and no turnovers.

The Terps are ranked No. 9 in the AP poll and in the USA Today Coaches poll.
