#9 Maryland to Welcome Loyola Sunday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After a three-game road swing, No. 9 Maryland will return home to welcome Loyola (Md.) to the XFINITY Center Sunday at 1 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring toys for a Toys for Tot drive. Toys can be dropped off at the gates. Sunday's game is also the Terps' annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Fans can throw teddy bears and stuffed animals on the court at halftime. Items that land on targets on the court can win prizes, if items are pre-registed at marketing tables. 

Prior to Sunday's game, the Terrapins will honor senior Stephanie Jones for reaching 1,000 career points last week. 

The Terps-Greyhounds game will be streamed online through BTN Plus. Fans can watch with their BTN Plus subscriptions, which start at $9.95 per month. 
 
This is the 29th meeting between Maryland and Loyola. The Terrapins own the all-time series, 25-3 and have won the last 18 straight meetings. They have played in each of the last 13 seasons. They took last year's meeting, 83-48, on Dec. 10 in College Park. Taylor Mikesell led the way with 19 points and Shakira Austin scored 17.
 
The Terrapins are second in the NCAA with their turnover margin of +11.2. They are in the top 10 in the country in assist/turnover ratio (1.5), assists (19.4), scoring margin (+29.4), scoring (83.2), steals (13.8) and three-point field goal percentage (.407). Ashley Owusu is No. 10 in the nation with her assist/turnover ratio (3.4).
 
The Terrapins fell at No. 13 NC State, 66-59, Thursday night in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Taylor Mikesell led the way with 13 points, Blair Watson scored 12 and Ashley Owusu added 10 points with nine assists.
 
Watson earned her first career weekly honor Monday as she was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week Honor Roll. She averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and shot 57% (8-for-14) from outside the arc in the Terps' two wins in Florida.
 
Senior Kaila Charles and sophomore Taylor Mikesell were two of 35 of the top players in the country named to the USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch List for national player of the year Thursday.

After Sunday's contest, the Terps will take a 10-day break for final exams. They will return to action with an 11 a.m. matchup at Georgia State (1-6) on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
