Terps Earn 195.325 in Loss to No. 16 Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS – The Maryland gymnastics team earned a season-best on bars (49.250) and posted a 195.325 in the loss to No. 16 Minnesota.
"What we did today is more important than getting a win," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "We handled ourselves really well in a tough environment with tough scoring against a really tough team and we came out with a good road score."
The GymTerps entered Friday's meet as the No. 19 ranked team on bars and earned their season best 49.250. All six competitors earned 9.825s or better led by Kirsten Peterman who earned a season best 9.875. Junior Alecia Farina, sophomore Audrey Barber and freshman Sanya Glauber posed 9.850s on the event to help the Terps retain their consistent excellence on the event.
Freshman Alexsis Rubio anchored the Terrapins on vault earning a 9.800 followed by sophomores Barber and Collea Burgess both posting 9.750s.
The GymTerps third rotation on floor earned Burgess her best score of the night (9.850) after an impressive routine. Burgess was followed by the equally energetic Sabriyya Rouse who stuck her landing to earn a 9.800.
The ever-so consistent Emilie LeBlanc was the only Terp to earn a 9.800 or better in both her events with a 9.825 on bars and 9.800 on beam.
Seniors Alex Robinson and Shynelle Agaran both competed in Minnesota, the first appearance for Agaran this season. Robinson earned a 9.825 on bars and 9.750 on floor with Agaran earning a 9.775 on beam.
"Being able to put up a 195 on the road consistently over the last few weeks shows how much we have improved since the beginning of the season and how much potential we have." said Peterman
The GymTerps return to action next Friday in Toledo, Ohio for the Big Five Meet.
