ANN ARBOR, Mich., - Once trailing by as many 15 points in the first half, the No. 24 Maryland men's basketball team trimmed No. 6 Michigan's lead to three points before ventuall falling, 65-62, Saturday afternoon. It marked Michigan's 22nd straight home win.
Freshman
Aaron Wiggins led all scorers with 15 points, knocking down three 3-pointers, while
Bruno Fernando finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Fernando's streak of double-doubles, tied for the third-longest in program history, was snapped at seven games.Â
The Terps entered the game with a 5-1 record in Big Ten action when trailing at halftime, but could not overcome its nine point halftime deficit.Â
It wasn't for lack of effort, however, as Fernando scored all 12 of his points in the second half while Anthony Cowan Jr hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Maryland outrebounded MIchigan, 39-30.
The Terps close a tough stretch of 7-of-9 games away from home Tuesday when they travel to face Iowa.
