COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The No. 3 Maryland lacrosse team is back at home Saturday, February 9 to host Richmond at Maryland Stadium at noon. The Terps are coming off an 11-6 victory over Bucknell in the team's season opener on February 2.
STORYLINES BY THE NUMBERS
1 – This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools since Richmond's inaugural varsity season as a program in 2014. This is Richmond's third-ever game against a Big Ten team, holding a 1-1 series record against Rutgers in games played during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
2 – Maryland will look to start 2-0 for the third consecutive season on Saturday. The Terps have started 2-0 six times under head coach John Tillman.
3 – Maryland was tabbed as the No. 3 team in the nation in both the Inside Lacrosse Maverick Media and Nike/USILA Coaches Preseason Polls released on January 8. This is the fourth straight season the Terps have started the year ranked inside the top-five nationally.
4 – Logan Wisnauskas became just the fourth Terrapin in the past 10 seasons to score four goals in a season opener after finishing with four goals and an assist in Maryland's 11-6 win over Bucknell on February 2. He joins Dylan Maltz (2017), Matt Rambo (2014) and Jake Bernhardt (2013) as Terps to reach the four-goal mark in the team's first game of the year since 2009. The five points tied his career-high.
5 – The Terps will face five teams in the regular season that competed in last year's NCAA Tournament this season, which includes Richmond in addition to Notre Dame, Albany, Villanova and Johns Hopkins. The Terrapins have led the country in RPI for the last three seasons, and will again be challenged in 2019 with a schedule that features 10 teams ranked inside the top-20 of the final 2018 Maverick Media Poll.
11 – Fifth-year senior Danny Dolan was rock solid in his first career start in the goal for the Terps, making 11 saves including 10 in the second half against Bucknell. Dolan allowed just six goals on 32 Bucknell shots while playing all 60 minutes in the cage.
50 – Maryland's 11-6 win over Bucknell marked head coach John Tillamn's 50th home victory as head coach at Maryland. The Terps are 50-12 overall when playing at Maryland Stadium under Tillman, including a 19-3 record over the past four seasons.
61 – Sophomores Logan Wisnauskas and Bubba Fairman are back after a pair of outstanding rookie seasons for the Terps in 2018. The duo combined for 61 goals as freshmen, the most-ever by a pair of Maryland freshmen in program history. Wisnauskas and Fairman's 85 points are the second-most by two freshman in the same season, and the most since Matt Hahn and Andrew Whipple combined for 87 in 1995.
