COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The #8 Maryland women's basketball team (21-2, 10-2) will travel to #20 Rutgers (17-5, 9-2) for a 2 p.m. matchup Sunday in Piscataway, N.J. The Terps, who have won six straight games, currently hold a half game lead over the Scarlet Knights for the top of the Big Ten standings.

Maryland owns the all-times series over Rutgers, 25-12 and has won six of seven meetings since joining the league in 2014-15. The Scarlet Knights took their first meeting this season, 73-65, in College Park on Dec. 31.

The Terps handled Northwestern, 72-57, Thursday in College Park. Maryland held the Wildcats to just 2-for-16 from the floor in the first quarter and jumped out to a 22-point lead in the second quarter.

Kaila Charles added 12 points, freshman
Taylor Mikesell scored 11 and junior
Sara Vujacic added 10 points off the bench.

Charles was named to the Big Ten Player of the Week honor roll for the second straight week and sixth time in her career Monday. She shot 80 percent from the field in the Terps' lone game last week and finished with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists. She was also named to the Wade Watch List and the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 this week.

Maryland is in the top 10 nationally in rebounding margin (+10.7) and in No. 5 in defensive rebounds (30.0). Sophomore
Channise Lewis leads the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio (2.7).

Mikesell leads the league, is 13th in the country in threes made with 70. She needs to make two more to top Maryland's freshman record. Freshman
Shakira Austin is second in the Big Ten and sixth in the country in total blocks (60). Jones is third in the Big Ten and 12th in the country in field goal percentage (.606). Charles is No. 5 in the Big Ten in scoring (16.0) and Mikesell is No. 10 (14.4).

With their win at Illinois Monday, the Terps reached the 20-win mark for the 15th consecutive season under head coach
Brenda Frese and 25th time in school history.

As a program, Maryland has earned a record of 993-424 (.701) and needs seven wins to reach 1,000.
