CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Maryland had three players selected in the 2019 Major League Lacrosse Draft held Saturday, March 9 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C.
Senior faceoff specialist Austin Henningsen was selected fourth overall (Round 1) by the Boston Cannons, senior defender Curtis Corley was selected 20th overall (Round 3) by the Chesapeake Bayhawks and senior goalkeeper Danny Dolan was picked 51st overall (Round 6) by the New York Lizards.
Maryland has had 39 players selected in the MLL draft since head coach John Tillman took over the program in 2011, leading all schools nationally during that span.
Henningsen ranks fifth all-time at Maryland in career faceoff wins, winning 442 during his four seasons in College Park with a .538 career winning percentage. Henningsen has won 64 of 99 faceoffs taken this year, which includes a career-best performance on February 9 where he won 15-of-15 faceoffs for the Terps in their 10-9 win over Richmond.
The Northport, N.Y. native made history against the Spiders, becoming the first player in Big Ten history to post a perfect faceoff percentage (15-for-15, 100%) with at least 15 wins. Henningsen is also the only Terp with at least 10 faceoff wins and a perfect 100% clip since at least 2000, and he was the first Division I player this season to post 15+ faceoff wins and a perfect win percentage.
Henningsen is a three-time Big Ten Specialist of the Week honoree and was also named the Big Ten Freshmen of the Week during his career in College Park. Henningsen was a key member of Maryland's 2017 National Championship team, winning 133 faceoffs while notching six goals and three assists.
Corley has started in 44 consecutive games for the Terrapins at close defense, with 44 career ground balls and 22 caused turnovers in 55 career games. The team captain has helped anchor one of the nation's top defensive units during his career in College Park, helping Maryland finish as a top-25 scoring defense for three seasons while the Terps rank T-10th nationally in 2019.
Dolan is in his first season as Maryland's starting goalie, holding a .532 save percentage and 9.32 goals against average in seven games. Dolan holds a 6-1 record for the Terps this season.
Dolan was sensational for the Terps against Penn on February 16, tying his career-high with 18 saves against the Quakers. It was the most saves in a game by a Maryland goalie since Niko Amato made 24 saves against Yale on April 20, 2013, while Dolan came through with a clutch stop at the end of regulation to force OT.
