CHICAGO -- James Palmer scored 24 points and Nebraska defeated No. 21 Maryland in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament Thursday, 69-61.
Glynn Watson Jr. added 19 points and Isaiah Roby finished with 15 to help pace the Cornhuskers (18-15). Maryland moves to 22-10 on the season.
Bruno Fernando, who entered with averages of 14 points and 10.5 rebounds, was held to three points and eight boards. Anthony Cowan Jr. scored 17 of his 18 points in the second half, and Darryl Morsell finished with 14.
The Terrapins trailed by as many as 13 in the first half, but they closed to 35-30 on Morsell's jam with 14:49 left. The Cornhuskers responded with a 9-0 run, capped by Watson's 3-pointer with 11:59 to go. Watson made two foul shots and Roby converted a three-point play, extending Nebraska's lead to 51-37 with 8:12 left.
Maryland will wait to see where it's going in the NCAA Tournament on Selection Sunday, March 17. The 2019 NCAA Tournament's selection show will air on CBS and starts at 6 p.m. ET, and the full field of 68 will be revealed by region.
