COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Ohio State (20-10, 5-1) beat Maryland (17-17, 1-5) 15-3 and clinched the series win in Sunday's rubber match. Ohio native Sammie Stefan launched her fourth home run of the season and is now tied with Anna Kufta with the most homers this season for a Terp.
Maryland worked its entire bullpen today, starting junior right-hander Kiana Carr and cycling through freshman Amelia Jarecke, redshirt freshman Victoria Galvan, and senior Sami Main.
Despite a six up, six down first inning, the Buckeyes got hot in the second inning and got two runs across the plate on a double. Ohio State would add four more runs in the third.
The Terps put up two runs in the bottom of the third, scoring on singles from JoJo McRae and Anna Kufta, but Ohio State would again have an answer in the top of the fourth, scoring another run and stretching their lead to 7-2. Maryland got their last run on the board via a Sammie Stefan solo homer which went well over the left field fence, but the Terps offense would go stagnant and wasn't able to recover from such a deficit.
Maryland now sits at .500 on the season heading into next week's road series at Michigan State (11-21, 1-4).
