Terps Close Out Open Tournament Schedule

SMYRNA, Del. – Hunter Baxter picked up four wins including one by fall as the Maryland wrestling team closed out its open tournament season at the 2019 National Collegiate Open on Saturday.
The redshirt freshman posted a third-period fall to claim his third of four wins on the afternoon.
The day also saw a trio of wins from Hunter Baxter,. Lucas Cordio and Peter Tedesco. All three wrestlers earned a bonus point win, with Baxter and Tedesco taking bouts by fall, while Cordio won a consolation bout by technical fall. Cordio's technical fall was his fourth of the year, which now leads the Maryland roster.
Garrett Burnham won a pair of matches in the event, including a 13-4 major decision victory in his second consolation match.
The day also included wins from Anthony Sountis, Decklan Fischer, Quinn Devaney and Parker Robinson. Fischer's opening round win came by way of major decision, good for his second major decision win of the year.
The Maryland wrestling team will be back in action this weekend, as select team members will be participating in the 2019 Big Ten Championships on Mar. 9-10 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
