Taylor Tabbed B1G Defensive Player of the Week

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior Megan Taylor has been named the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the ninth time in her career, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
In Maryland's two wins at UMBC and Hofstra, Taylor posted 11 saves to only six goals allowed, a .647 save percentage. Taylor allowed only six goals in 64 minutes of play, a 5.63 goals against average. The Glenelg, Md. native was essential to holding UMBC to just one goal in the win, the lowest total Maryland has held an opponent to since 2003.
On the season, Taylor has tallied 44 saves to only 35 goals allowed, a .557 save percentage, which ranks sixth in the country. In addition, Taylor's 8.36 goals against average in top-15 in the country and second in the Big Ten. As a team, Taylor and the Terps also rank top-15 in the country in scoring defense, only allowing 7.80 goals per game.
Last week, Taylor was selected to the Tewaaraton Watch List for the third time in her career. A captain on this year's team, Taylor is also a Big Ten Player to Watch and an Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American.
Taylor and the Terps will host their second-straight top-five opponent at Capital One Field at Maryland Stadium this weekend, hosting No. 4 Syracuse at noon on Saturday.
