WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary defeated the Maryland baseball team, 8-1, at Plumeri Park in Williamsburg, Va., Wednesday afternoon.
The Tribe (20-7) led for the majority of the ballgame as the Terps (13-14) were only able to plate a single run. It was Maryland's first loss in a midweek game of the season.
That Maryland run tied the game in the third inning after the Tribe plated a run in the first. Sophomore
Justin Vought hit his fourth home run of the season, an opposite field shot, to knot the game at 1-1.
After William & Mary retook the lead in the bottom half of the third, the Terps were unable to find a way back. Brandon Raquet's seventh inning home run made it 8-1 and put the game out of reach.
Maryland returns to action Friday night when it starts a three-game set at Illinois. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. and fans can listen to the action live on the Maryland Baseball Network.
