Â
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland Athletics will launch a search for a new head coach for its women's tennis program, Terrapin Athletic Director
Damon Evans announced on Thursday. The contract of Daria Panova, Maryland's head women's tennis coach for the past seven seasons, will not be renewed when it expires in June.
Â
"I want to thank Daria for all that she's put into our women's tennis program," said Evans. "Daria has had a positive impact on our university and in our student-athletes lives."
Â
During Panova's tenure, Maryland posted a 65-90 record. The Terps qualified for three straight Big Ten Tournaments from 2016-18, picking up the programs first victory in the conference championships against Minnesota in 2018. Maryland's strongest season under Panova's leadership came in 2016-17, when the Terps boasted a 16-6 record, including a 7-4 mark in the Big Ten.
Â
"I look forward to the next chapter of Maryland women's tennis and am excited about the potential for our program," Evans said. "Our focus for the search is to identify a leader who can help nurture the talent and performance of our student-athletes, and take our program to the next level."

Associate Head Coach
Katie Dougherty will serve as interim head coach while the national search for Maryland's next head coach is conducted.
