COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland dominated the competition on Friday night at the Kehoe Twilight meet on their home turf. The evening of competition was highlighted by a senior recognition ceremony for the eighteen graduating Terps in the class of 2019. In addition, the alumni mile run brought back graduates of all ages to come together on the track.

NCAA leader Greg Thompson continued to demolish the competition. Thompson won the discus event with a mark of 58.93, almost 17 feet further than the second place finisher.

Andrew Alfano launched 6.97m in the men's long jump, improving his season best mark in the event and earning him a first place finish.

Thaila Cooper ran a lifetime best in the 400m hurdles, winning the event in 1:00.16 and pulling teammate Nadia Hackett to a collegiate best 1:00.31. Hackett won the 100m hurdles earlier in the day crossing the line in 14.20.

Carlos Vanzego won the men's triple jump competition with a mark of 14.30m. Patrick Hanley finished off the night in the last event winning the 5000m race in 15:10.40. Emily Bracher ran her first race of the outdoor season in the 5000m and placed third in 18:01.37.

Xahria Santiago won the 400m dash in 54.29 followed closely by Destiny Ward who crossed the line second in 55.50. Aaron Robinson posted a first place finish in the men's 400m dash, beating the field by over a second and a half running 48.07

In a deep field of 1500m runners, the Terps had several strong performances. Christine Laurie placed 3rd running 4:27.64. Brittany Lang ran a collegiate best 4:36.46, and Kathryn Gearhart also ran a collegiate best 4:43.02. Freshman, Yasmine Kass ran 4:51.18.

In the 200m dash, the lady terps dominated. Bria Mack blazed to a 24.45, Cheyenne Jones' 24.66, Imani Gray 24.72, and Venida Fagan 24.89. Mack also won the 100m dash in 11.87 with Jaida Smith finishing in second posting a time of 12.04.

Cameron Vereen had a strong day in the men's sprints running 10.77 in the 100m dash and coming back to run a season best in the 200m, 21.66.

Kameron Jones and Dashawn Morris had a tight finish in the 200m with Jones edging out Morris running 21.41 with Morris crossing the line in 21.43 for a photo finish.Â

In the men's 800m, Colin Rowe ran his first race at this distance posting a time of 1:52.90. Senior, Aaron Barlev dropped down in distance for this race and set a new personal best at 1:55.32. Seniors, Hazem Miawad and Ryan Scott also toed the line in the 800m.

Mikella Lefebvre-Oatis cleared 1.75m in the high jump to win the event. Leah Blackall took second to former Terp, Thea LaFond in the triple jump posting a mark of 12.40m.

Kamryn Henderson had a day in both the shot put and discus circles, launching the shot 13.12m and the discus 36.43m to improve her collegiate marks. Henderson finished fourth in the event, behind Bayli Smith and veterans Chioma Onyekwere and Claudia Ababio who took first and second, respectively. Alice Barnsdale finished fifth in the discus, wrapping up the throwers for the Terps.
The Maryland track & field team returns to compeition next week at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
