COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Former Maryland men's basketball superstar Walt "The Wizard" Williams has been selected for enshrinement into the 60th Class of the Maryland State Athletic Hall of Fame, as announced Tuesday.
Williams' classmates include Mark Teixeira (baseball), Ali Andrzewjewski (soccer), Rob Shek (lacrosse), and Steve Krulevitz (tennis). Lifetime achievement awards will also be presented to sportscaster Tom Davis and the family of the late football coach Jim Margraff.

A native of Temple Hills, Williams was one of the most versatile and dominant players in the history of the Maryland basketball program and was named an All-American following his senior season
During his senior year, he averaged a school record 26.8 points per game, scored 20 or more points in 19 straight games and broke Bias's senior scoring record. He was selected seventh overall by Sacramento in the 1992 NBA Draft and went on to play in the league for 11 years. Williams was a 2005 inductee into the Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame.
