
Maryland Opens Fall Season at Bedford Cup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team begins its 2019 season at home at the Bedford Cup, which takes place at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park Sept. 13-15. The Terps will host Georgetown, George Washington, Loyola, Richmond, Towson and Virginia Tech.
Maryland will feature seven players in action over the course of doubles and singles play. In doubles, the duo of Amber Policare and Chloe Hamin and team of Saya Usui and Katsiaryna Yemelyanenka will begin play in the "Old Bay" flight of the doubles draw, while Zoe Kulkarni and Joy Callwood will see action in the "Crabcakes and Football" doubles flight.
Maryland will have seven players in various singles flights, with Policare, Yemelyanenka and Kulkarni all playing in the Wimbledon flight. Hamlin is joined by Eva Alexandrova in the Australian Open flight. Callwood will play in the US Open flight of singles, while Usui will be Maryland's representative in the French Open flight.
The Terps are led by first-year head coach Katie Dougherty, who previously served as associate head coach for the Terps.
