COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland wrestling head coach
Alex Clemsen announced the schedule for the 2019-20 season today, featuring four matches against opponents that finished in the top-10 of 2019 NCAA Championships.
This year's schedule features four matches against opponents that finished in the top-10 of the 2019 NCAA Championships, six matches with opponents that finished in the top-30 of the 2019 NCAA Championships, and Big Ten home matches against Purdue, Indiana, Illinois and Northwestern,
"The team and I are very excited about this season's schedule," head coach
Alex Clemsen said. "We have the unique opportunity to face off against the best in the country in our Big Ten schedule which will prove extremely competitive, but will also give us the chance to prove ourselves. It's also unique for me as a first-year head coach. Having seen the progress our student-athletes have made, I'm looking forward to seeing them on the mat wrestling new opponents. Overall, we're very excited to get back on the mat and continue to build this program."

Maryland will open its season with the annual Red vs. Black Wrestle-Offs on October 26, 2019, before the squad heads to officially kick off the season at the Cavalier Duals in Charlottesville, Va. on November 2.
The Terps open their home slate by welcoming Pitt on December 20. It also includes home dates with Purdue (Jan. 24), Indiana (Jan. 26), Illinois (Feb. 9), Northwestern (Feb. 16), George Mason (Feb. 21), and Rider (Feb. 22).
In road duals, the Terrapins will head to the Cavalier Duals where Virginia and Southern Virginia will compete (Nov. 2), the American University Round Robin with American and VMI (Nov. 9), the Black Knight Invite at Army (Nov. 17), then will face Navy (Dec. 6), Rutgers (Dec. 7), head to the VA Duals (Jan. 10-11 - Teams TBA), Michigan (Jan. 17), Michigan State (Jan. 19), Ohio State (Jan. 31), and will cap off their road dual slate at the defending national champions Penn State (Feb. 2).
Maryland will also head to several different open tournaments throughout the course of the season, including the Hokie Open (Nov. 3), the Wolfpack Open (Nov. 17), Mat-Town Open I (Dec. 1), the Mason Open (Dec. 7), the F&M Open (Jan. 4), the Boro Open (Feb. 1), and Mat-Town Open II (Feb. 23)

The 2020 Big Ten Championships take place at Rutgers University on March 7-8, and the NCAA Championships will be held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 19-21.Â
