COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 17 Maryland men's basketball heads to Welsh-Ryan Arena for the first time since the 2017-18 season as it faces Northwestern Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. The Terps are in the midst of a stretch that includes four road games in five contests.
STORYLINES
• The Terps extended their home record to a perfect 11-0 with a wire-to-wire 57-50 victory over Purdue. Leading by as many as 18 points, Maryland was powered by
Jalen Smith's 18 points (8/13 FG), 10 rebounds and four blocks, while
Donta Scott reached double-figures for the first time in his career.
• The Terps checked in at No. 15 in the latest edition of the NET rankings, and have accumulated the second-most combined quad 1 and quad 2 victories (9) in the country behind only Kansas (10). Maryland has played the 8th-toughest schedule to date (NET), and are one of 12 Big Ten teams in the top-50.
• Sophomore
Jalen Smith is currently the most prolific 3-point shooter in the Big Ten, knocking down 58-percent of his attempts in conference play. "Stix" has made 8-of-13 from outside the arc over the last five games. He reached double-figures in 16-of-18 games, and currently ranks third in the Big Ten in double-doubles (9).
• Senior
Anthony Cowan Jr. has scored at least 16 points in 10 of his last 14 games and currently leads the Big Ten in free throws made (86). He was recently named to the Wooden Award top-25 list.
• Maryland is 8-2 all-time against Northwestern, including seven wins in eight meetings since joining the league.

Anthony Cowan Jr. (512 asts) needs three assists to pass Terp legend John Lucas (1972-76) for fifth on the program's all-time assists list. He also ranks 14th on Maryland's scoring list and needs four points to pass Melo Trimble (1,658) for 13th. Cowan is one of three active players in the "Power-6" plus American that has at least 1,600 points and 500 assists (Cassius Winston, Payton Pritchard).
• Tonight marks Maryland's 100th Big Ten Conference game. The Terps hold a 135-53 (.718) overall record since joining the league, trailing only Michigan State.
