COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Kyle Cochran got back on track with a win for the first time in three matches but Maryland couldn't overcome No. 13 Purdue's firepower Friday night at the XFINITY Center Pavilion, losing 37-4.

Maryland started the match with Brandon Cray at 125 pounds, quickly falling to a 5-0 deficit after Purdue's eighth-ranked Devin Schroder earned a 18-0 technical fall.

King Sandoval was in a good position with a chance to come back against Travis Ford-Melton, but Ford-Melton would come away with a 7-4 decision. Hunter Baxter dropped a tough 11-0 decision to Parker Filius, and Michael Doetsch wrestled a tight match but couldn't come away with any points in a 4-0 loss to Nate Limmex.

Jahi Jones, back in the lineup for Maryland at 157 pounds, kept it close with No. 8 Kendall Coleman but couldn't come away with a win as he gave up two late takedowns which put the match away for Coleman.

Kyle Cochran put in his best effort to jump-start the upperweights with a decisive 11-0 major decision over Tanner Webster, breaking a two-match losing streak and improving on his team lead with his fifth major decision of the year.

Philip Spadafora and No. 4 Dylan Lydy wrestled a competitive match until late in the second and into the third period where Lydy (22-1 on the season) stretched his lead and ultimately earning a 12-4 major decision. Kyle Jasenski and Max Lyon wrestled hard at 184 pounds, but Jasenski couldn't come away with a win, dropping a 7-2 decision. Niko Cappello and Parker Robinson were both pinned to close the match.

Maryland is back in action on Sunday at 3:00 pm in the XFINITY Center Pavilion vs. Indiana. For full results from Friday's dual vs. Purdue, see below.
