Terps Set Eleven Personal Bests at Penn State, Navy

State College, Pa. — Junior Christine Laurie shaved off more than 10 seconds from her 3000m personal-best, clocking in at 9:47.79 and taking home the eighth fastest Terp 3000m time at the Penn State National Saturday. 

Laurie crossed the line in third place with a swift pace to the finish line.

Highlights:

Sophomore Mackenize Morgan set a personal best and No. 5 all-time finish in the 600m (1:34.63). In the men's 600m, sophomore Colin Rowe posted a personal-best 1:20.46, beating his previous No. 4 all-time best that was set at last year's Penn State National Open. 

Junior Destiny Ward dashed through the 200m finish line in 24.63, setting a new personal best and earned the title as the 10th best 200m sprinter in Maryland's history. 

Women
Mikella Lefebvre-Oatis finished second in the high jump competition. Lefebvre-Oatis continued to stay focused on high heights, clearing 1.73m (5'8").

Adding to the list of personal bests are middle distance runners Anna Coffin and Samantha Facius. Coffin placed first in her heat (5:04.60), marking the top mile performance by a freshman this season. Facius continued to show improvements as she paced her way through the 1000m earning her personal best 2:58.20. 

Imani Gray made her season debut in the 200m (25.07) with a fifth place finish. 

In the 400m, Cheyenne Jones placed seventh (56.22).  Xahria Santiago made her season debut in the 400m event (56.89).

Men
Maxwell Myers placed third in the 600m (1:21.04), marking his second week taking home a top-three finish. 

Senior Kameron Jones, who holds the second fastest indoor 400m time, made his debut in the race placing sixth (47.74).


Annapolis, Md.— Maryland Track and Field earned five top-three finishes and three personal bests in field events at the Navy Invite II Saturday. 

Triple jumper Gerald Norgbe took flight in the event with a personal best 14.20m mark and took home second place. 

Gwendolyn Zeckowski made her season debut in pole vault and worked her way over the bar set at 3.70m. Zeckowski took home a bronze medal and a new best indoor mark.

The Terps' throw squad dominated the throwing ring in weight throw, with second and third place marks. Junior Alice Barnsdale threw a season best 17.25m, and Kamryn Henderson took home third with a 16.65m mark. Freshman Sarah George gained enough power in the ring to throw a personal best 15.55m. 

Maryland's strength continued to shine in the field with George's (13.80m) and Henderson's (12.83m) second and fifth place marks, respectively. 

Both Kirstin Walz and Maria Castellanos ran the 500m for the first time. 

Alexandra Hargrett and Emily McAllister paced their way through the 1000m, placing within the top-ten. 

Milers Paige Novak, Julia Reicin and Courtney Mann were among the first ten athletes to cross the finish line. Brady Snelson competed in the mile on the men's side with an eighth place finish. 

Four Terps posted top-ten finishes in the 3000m. Anna Latzko, Caroline Augelli and Sarah Daniels went four, five, six as they led the Terps across the line. Freshman Claudia Dolan and Kira Freedman continued their first season in this race. 

Maryland travels to Nebraska Friday Feb. 7 for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at Devaney Center Indoor Track.
