RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Maryland women's golf team finished 14th overall at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in its first event of the spring season. The Terrapins competed at the Country Club of Rio Mar, RIver Course in Rio Grande, P.R.
Junior Virunpat Olankitkunchai was just five strokes over par with her score of 221 (77-69-75). She led the Terps for the last two rounds and finished tied for 22nd.
Senior Xiaolin Tian picked up two birdies and finished with an overall score of 228( 73-78-77) which was +12 overall. The senior improved her score of a stroke compared to yesterday's round.
Junior Laura Van Respaille tied alongside Tian for 49th, scoring an overall of 228(80-74-74) a +12 improving her second and third round of 6 strokes compared to her first. Junior Van Respaille started her final round by holing out from 116 yards for an eagle on the 509 yards long par 5 number 15.
Freshman Maria Vittoria Corbi owns a score of 238 (79-81-78).Sophomore Elena Verticchio finished with a score of 245 (83-80-82).
As a team the Terrapins earned a score of 914 (309-301-304).
Next, the Terrapins will compete in the Guadalajara International Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico Feb. 16-18.
