COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 7 Maryland men's basketball team, which sits alone with a two-game lead atop the Big Ten standings, is set to face No. 25 Ohio State in Columbus Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm on CBS. The Terps have won nine straight games, marking their longest conference winning streak since 2001-02. It also marks the seventh time in program history the Terps have won 22 games through 26 contests.

STORYLINES

• All-American candidate Jalen Smith has recorded nine straight double-doubles (all wins), which is the longest active streak in the nation and the longest streak for a player in nine straight wins since Xavier's David West in 2003. He is averaging 18.9 points (57% FG), 12.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks during that span. Smith's 17 double-doubles on the season ranks fourth nationally.

• Senior Anthony Cowan Jr. was named Big Ten Player of the Week for the third time this season after scoring the team's final 11 points of a 14-0 run to defeat Michigan State (2/11). Cowan is the first Terp to earn conference POW honors three times in a season since Greivis Vasquez (2009-10).

• The Terrapins have improved across a number of categories during their nine-game win streak compared to their first 17 games, most notably 3-pt FG/s (7.1 to 9.0), 3-pt FG% (.306 to .335), assists/g (12.5 to 15.2) and turnovers/g (12.8 to 9.4).

• Through Feb. 19 games, the Terps are No. 7 in the NET rankings. Maryland is 12-4 against quad 1&2 opponents, with all four losses coming to quad 1 opponents. Maryland also ranks eighth according to KenPom, featuring the 5th-best defensive efficiency in the country.

Anthony Cowan Jr. has made a habit of making clutch plays this season, making 10-of-16 3-point attempts in the final three minutes of games this season. He most notably made three 3-pointers to close out Michigan State on Feb. 15.

• Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon boasts a 72-36 (.667) career record in Big Ten games. The win percentage ranks fourth among coaches with 50 wins over the last 40 years, trailing only Bo Ryan (.717), Bob Knight (.700) and Tom Izzo (.692).

Anthony Cowan Jr. has started all 125 games of his career, and should tie Keith Booth's record of 126 consecutive starts Sunday against Ohio State. Cowan (1809 pts) recently passed Tom McMillen for eighth on Maryland's all-time scoring list. Cowan is also second all-time in free throws made (554),  tied for third in 3-pointers made (203) and fifth in assists (554).
