COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's golf team will travel to Coral Gables, Florida this weekend to compete Monday and Tuesday in the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami.
The Terrapins will compete at the Biltmore Blue Course, a par-72, 6,100-yard course.
The Terps and the 12 other teams competing will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday starting at 8:00 a.m. both days. All rounds will be a shotgun start. Live scoring will be available here.
Freshman Maria Vittoria Corbi, senior Xiaolin Tian, juniors Virunpat Olankitkunchai, Laura Van Respaille, and Charlotte Lafourcade will compete for Maryland. Sophomore Elena Verticchio will compete as an individual.
The Terrapins will compete against the host No. 26 Miami, No. 9 Arizona, No. 16 Oklahoma State, No. 28 Oklahoma, No. 30 Illinois, No. 50 Michigan, No. 54 TCU, Indiana, Penn State, Texas State, Middle Tennessee, No. 5 Barry (DII).
The Terrapins placed eighth out of 14 teams when they last played at the IJGA Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico Feb. 16-18. Junior Laura Van Respaille led the Terps with a 215 (74-69-72), which was a -1 overall. She finished tied for 12th in the individual standings. Additionally, the Terrapins recorded the lowest team round for the season of 7-under, 281 strokes, only two other team in the field shot a round of 7-under during the event.
