#9 Terps Fall to #4 Syracuse, 10-5

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie McSally tallied a career-best 13 saves to lead a Maryland defense that caused 14 turnovers in the No. 9 Terps 10-5 loss to No. 4 Syracuse on Saturday.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • McSally, who earned her third start this season in goal, was terrific in goal, tallying 13 saves to only 10 goals allowed, a .565 save percentage. The sophomore kept the Terps in the game, recording seven first half saves and holding Syracuse to only four first half goals
  • Senior Meghan Doherty caused a game-high and career-high four turnovers and picked up three groundballs
  • Junior Grace Griffin scored her first two goals of he season and had a team-best three points, getting the Maryland offense going in the second half, while also causing three turnovers
  • Freshman Emma Schettig had a game-high five groundballs and was fantastic on the defensive end, causing three turnovers
  • Maryland has now lost three straight for the first time since 2006 and stands at 1-3 for the first time since 2002.
