#10 Terps Topple #17 Navy, 16-7

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Nine different Terps scored goals led by three apiece from Brindi Griffin, Kali Hartshorn and Hannah Warther to lead the No. 10 Maryland women's lacrosse team to a 16-7 win over No. 17 Navy on Wednesday night.

- After Navy scored the first goal of the game, Maryland went on an 11-0 run to end the first half, holding the Midshipmen scoreless for the final 29:30 of the half.
- Those 11 goals were scored by six different Terps and featured five assists
- Maryland outshot Navy 42-20 and won the draw control battle 18-6
- The Terps ended their three game losing streak with the win, which was the longest since 2006
- Senior Kali Hartshorn led the game with five points (three goals, two assists) to give her 199 career points. Hartshorn also tallied four draws and picked up three groundballs
- The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Week Emma Schettig starred again for the Terps, picking up a game-high seven draw controls, three groundballs and two caused turnovers. The freshman led a Maryland draw effort that dominated, winning the battle in the circle 18-6
- Sophomore Maddie McSally notched her second straight strong game in goal, tallying 11 saves to only seven goals allowed, a .611 save percentage. McSally now has a .585 save percentage in the last two games.
- Freshman Libby May tallied two first half goals
- Cathy Reese: "That was a good game for us. We were excited to get back out and at it again. We've seen moments of us playing really well this season and then moments where we struggle. I think we had a really good first half and we got a little sloppy in the second half. We did a lot better job of clearing the ball and not turning it over. The positives result in more possessions but we still have to be more consistent than we were tonight."
