COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland softball team debuts the 2020 season, Feb. 6-8 at the Texas Classic hosted by University of Texas.

Maryland is set to play five games that feature matchups with: Wichita State, No. 6 Texas, Colorado State, Lamar University and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Terps are coming off a 20-31 season, going 4-19 in Big Ten play.

IT'S A NEW DAY
•   Maryland softball is under new leadership as Head Coach Mark Montgomery embarks his coaching journey at the Univeristy of Maryland at the Texas Class
•   Montgomery enters his 20th season as a head coach, harboring a 556-483 record.
•   Montgomery is coming off a championship year at Louisiana Tech, winning the Conference USA Regular Season and Tournament, losing in the NCAA Regional.
•   In his career he has made 4 NCAA appearances, has had 5 consecutive 30+ win seasons, including 11 in 19 seasos as a head coach, 6 conference championships, ad 15 consecutive years of his program's GPA being 3.0 or better.
•   Montgomery adds 2 assistants, Mike Larabee and Chelsea Butler, as well as volunteer assistant Mike Forsythe

THE RETURN
•   The Terps return 14 of 18 players from the 2019 team.
•   Jojo McRae, Sammie Stefan, Amanda Brashear, Gracie Voulgaris, Taylor Wilson, Anna Kufa, and Micaela Abbatine all had 7 of the 8 top overall averages of the 2019 season. They all return for the 2020 season.
•   Taylor Okada who appeared in 26 games, who had an overal avergage og .426, .574 slugging percentage, .455 on base percentage, and .965 fielding percentage before a season ending injury retuns for the 2020 season.
