Terps Claim 3-1 Victory; Montgomery Gets First Win

AUSTIN, Texas -- Head Coach Mark Montgomery and the Maryland Softball team captured its first win of the season in comeback fashion, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3-1, on the final day of the Texas Classic. It marked the first win of Montgomery's career at Maryland
Shelby Younkin's double to left field scored Gracie Voulgaris and Anna Kufta in the top of the sixth to get the Terps going. Younkin went 1-1 at the plate.
Amanda Brashear then batted in Campbell Kline in the top of the seventh, extending the lead to 3-1.
Amelia Jarecke collected the first win of her career in the circle. She pitched all seven innings for the Terps, allowing just one earned run and striking out five.
The Terps next face off with Clemson and Pitt in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge February 14-16, in Clemson, S.C.
