Maryland Falls to Clemson in Big Ten/ACC Challenge, 5-1

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Maryland dropped game one of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge to Clemson, 5-1. Freshman Courtney Wyche recorded seven strikeouts, allowing just four hits.
Sophomore Regan Kerr scored the first run of the game in the first inning for Maryland. The Terps held a 1-0 lead through three, but were unable to respond to a fourth-inning rally by Clemson, as the Tigers took a 3-1 lead.
Maryland posted seven hits. Freshman Campbell Kline led the way going 2-for-3, while five other Terps notched one hit apiece. The Terps were outhit by the Tigers 9-7.
Maryland returns to the Clemson Softball Stadium on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. to face off against Pittsburgh on day two of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Followed by a 12:30 p.m., rematch against Clemson.
