COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The No. 10 Maryland women's lacrosse team will play its second home game of the week, hosting Hofstra on Saturday at noon. The game is set for a noon opening draw and will be broadcast on BTN Plus.
OPENING DRAW
• Maryland is coming off a 16-7 rout of No. 17 Navy on Wednesday night. The Terps have played the nation's 10th hardest schedule, with four of the Terps five games coming against teams in the top-20 and three against teams in the top-10 (#1 North Carolina, #3 Syracuse, #5 Florida).
• Kali Hartshorn has led Maryland offensively this season, recording 18 points (10 goals, eight assists) and 30 draw controls. Hartshorn is one point away from 200 in her career, currently standing at 199 after a five point performance (three goals, two assists) vs. Navy. Hartshorn is also second all-time in program history in draw controls with 418, trailing only Taylor Cummings, who finished her career with 509.
• Maddie McSally has been fantastic in goal the past two games vs. No. 4 Syracuse and No. 17 Navy, tallying 24 saves to only 17 goals allowed, a .585 save percentage. McSally ranks 12th in the country with a .532 save percentage (33 saves, 29 goals allowed) and leads the Big Ten with a 9.35 GAA.
• The Terps were picked to win the Big Ten for the sixth season in a row. Maryland has never lost a Big Ten regular season game, standing at 28-0 over five years and has eight conference championships (five regular season, three tournament).

SCHETTIG EARNS BIG TEN FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK HONOR
• Freshman defender Emma Schettig was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after her performance against No. 4 Syracuse, the conference announced Tuesday.
• Schettig was a force all over the field against the Orange, picking up a game-best five groundballs, causing three turnovers and tallying two draw controls. The freshman's five groundballs are the most by a Terrapin freshman since 2016 and the most by any Maryland player this year.
• The Woodbine, Md. native starred on a Maryland defense that caused 14 turnovers, holding the Orange to their season low 10 goals and forcing them to shoot just 37-percent. Through four games in her freshman year, Schettig is leading the Terps and is second in the Big Ten with 13 groundballs and is second on the team with six caused turnovers.
WELCOME THE NO. 1 RANKED FRESHMAN CLASS
• Maryland welcomes the top ranked freshman class to College Park for the 2020 season, as named by Inside Lacrosse. Six Terps were ranked in the publication's Top 50 Freshmen rankings, including five of the top 20 and the top ranked attacker and defender. 11 of the 12 Terrapin newcomers are ranked in the top 100.
• Six of the incoming freshmen were Under Armour All-Americans, the most in the country, all of whom were ranked by Inside Lacrosse: No. 4 Shaylan Ahearn, No. 5 Emma Schettig, No. 9 Hannah Leubecker, No. 13 Catherine Flaherty, No. 20 Kate Sites and No. 26 Victoria Hensh.
• Ahearn, May, and Schettig have all immediately jumped into the starting lineup and started in all three contests while Sterling earned the start last week at #1 North Carolina. Flaherty, Leubecker and Sites have also seen time in game action over the first three weeks.
FOUR TERPS NAMED TO TEWAARATON WATCH LIST
• Four members of the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team, tied for the most in the country, were named to the initial Tewaaraton Watch List, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation last week.
• A trio of seniors: Meghan Doherty, Brindi Griffin and Kali Hartshorn, as well as junior Grace Griffin were all selected for the watch list.
• Maryland has won eight of the last 10 Tewaaraton awards, with Megan Taylor becoming the first goalie in lacrosse history to win the award last year. Before that, Zoe Stukenberg took home the prestigious award in 2017, Taylor Cummings won three straight from 2014-16 and Katie Schwarzmann became the first two-time winner for Maryland in 2012-13. Caitlyn McFadden started the eight-for-10 streak for Maryland, garnering the award in 2010. Jen Adams won the inaugural Tewaaraton in 2001. Jen Giles was also a finalist for the award last season.
2019 RECAP
• The Terps won their 15th national championship in 2019, going 22-1 and winning the Big Ten regular season title for the fifth year in a row. Maryland beat Boston College 12-10 in the title game after pummeling Northwestern, 25-13 in the semifinals.
• Goaltender Megan Taylor racked up a handful of awards after a sensational season, winning the Tewaaraton Award, the Honda Award and being named the IWLCA National Player of the Year.
• Cathy Reese was selected as the IWLCA National Coach of the Year for the fourth time, Julia Braig was named the IWLCA National Defender of the Year and Maryland earned a program best seven All-Americans, led by Taylor, Braig and Jen Giles as first teamers.
TERPS SELECT 2020 TEAM CAPTAINS
• Maryland has selected seniors Lizzie Colson, Meghan Doherty and Brindi Griffin and junior Grace Griffin as its 2020 team captains.
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
• Hofstra is 4-1 on the season with its only loss coming narrowly against #16 Southern California in its first game of the year. The Pride are coming off a narrow 15-14 overtime win over Johns Hopkins on Tuesday night.
• Last season, Hofstra went 12-7 and lost to James Madison in the CAA Championship game.
• The Terps are 8-0 all-time against Hofstra.
• Last season, Maryland won at Hofstra, defeating the Pride 17-9. Grace Griffin tallied a career-best six points (five goals, one assist) in the game while Maryland shot over 50 percent.
