COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland redshirt freshman starting pitcher Sean Burke was named to the 2020 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team, the publication announced Tuesday morning.
After redshirting in 2019, Burke's highly anticipated freshman campaign was one of the best seasons by a Maryland freshman starting pitcher in recent memory, despite the cancellation of the spring season on March 12.
Burke becomes the 20th Terrapin in program history to earn All-America plaudits and the 10th in the last seven seasons.
This season, Burke was sensational as the team's Sunday starter and emerged as one of the premier arms in the Big Ten. The Sutton, Mass. native made four starts, earning a 2-0 record with a 1.99 ERA.
