COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- After a storybook Senior Day performance, Maryland center back
Ryan Blumberg was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Blumberg had a day to remember against Indiana, earning his first career start and just second career appearance after being out for nearly two years do to injury. The Sydney, Australia native scored his first career goal in the 49th minute to snap Indiana 700 plus minute run without allowing a goal. He helped the Terps keep a clean sheet against the Hoosiers, allowing Maryland to secure the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
Blumberg's DPOTW honor is Maryland's first of the season.

Maryland returns to action Sunday afternoon against Northwestern in the Big Ten Quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at Ludwig Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans can buy tickets
