COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Maryland men's basketball team battled but ultimately fell to Virginia Tech 62-58 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Wednesday night at XFINITY Center. It was a special night as Maryland celebrated the life and legacy of Len Bias throughout the night.
Qudus Wahab led the Terps in points and tied his season-high 18, with 14 coming in the first half alone. He also had seven rebounds
Donta Scott poured in 11 points to go along with seven rebounds. Hakim Hart chipped in 10 points.
Julian Reese was strong on both ends of the floor off the bench with seven points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Maryland (5-3) controlled the paint, outscoring the Hokies, 38-20, inside led by Wahab. The team shot just 1-13 from three-point range in what would ultimately be their undoing.
Virginia Tech hit eight field goals in the row late in the second half to take control of the game. That came on the heels of the Hokies starting the half just 2-of-18 thanks to great defense from the Terps.
Hakim Hart had a chance to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining, but his three-pointer hit the back iron and the Hokies corralled the rebound.
Virginia Tech (6-2) was led by Keve Aluma, who had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.
