MINNESOTA STORYLINES
- Sunday's matchup with Minnesota marks Maryland's first home matchup with an unranked conference opponent this season, having previously hosted #16 Michigan, #5 Iowa, #14 Wisconsin, #24 Purdue and #4 Ohio State.
-
Maryland earned its program-record third ranked road win when it defeated then-#17 Minnesota, 64-49, at The Barn on Jan. 23. It was the second-fewest points allowed by the Terps in a conference game sice joining the Big Ten as the Gophers shot just 30.4% from the field. Junior Eric Ayala was sensational in the game, scoring 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
-
Maryland holds a formidable 11-2 all-time record against the Gophers dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1960. The Terrapins have won five consecutive meetings and 7-of-9 meetings since joining the Big Ten in 2014-15.
- Senior Darryl Morsell needs just 21 points to become the 56th player in Maryland history to score 1,000 career points. Since the start of the 2019-20 season, the Terrapins are 20-2 when Morsell reaches double-figures. The Baltimore native was recently named one of 30 candidates for the Senior Class Award, which recognizes excellence in character, classroom, community and competition.
-
Maryland features an array of scoring options this season with four different players scoring at least 20 points in a game: Eric Ayala (3x), Aaron Wiggins (2x), Donta Scott and Hakim Hart. Senior Darryl Morsell fell one point shy of the benchmark when he scored a career-best 19 points in Maryland's win at then-No. 12 Illinois.
