COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland women's tennis team wrapped up it's home opener weekend against Penn State, falling 5-2.

The Terps will head out to Piscataway, New Jersey to face Rutgers on Feb. 27 at 2:00 p.m.

- Sophomore No. 89 Ayana Akli and senior Eva Alexandrova continue to stay undefeated, 4-0 each at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot
- The doubles point came down to the No. 3 spot
- DOUBLES
- No. 1: Akli & Minorka Miranda defeated Gabby O'Gorman & Alexandra Nielsen 6-1
- No. 2: Adela Josefova & Eva Alexandrova fell to Frederikke Svarre and Sofiya Chekhlystova 2-6
- No. 2: Zoe Kulkarni and Ebony Sampson battled to the end, ultimately falling 3-6 to Samantha Smith & Karly Friedland leading Penn State to take the doubles point
- SINGLES
- No. 1: Akli defeated O'Gorman in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1
- No. 2: Alexandrova went three sets with Svarre, winning in the third 2-6, 6-2, 6-2
- No. 3: Miranda was defeated by Chekhlystova 3-6, 2-6
- No. 4: Kulkarni took the first set against Friedland 7(2)-6, fell in the second 3-6, and was defeated in a tie-breaker thrid set 10-3.
- No. 5: Josefova was defeated Neilsen 3-6, 2-6
- No. 6: Sampson fell to Olivia Rohrbacher in two sets, 2-6, 4-6
