COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior defenseman Nick Grill was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week in a release made by the conference offices today. Grill was also named to the USILA Team of the Week. Â
Grill turned in perhaps his finest game as a Terp in Maryland's win over Michigan on February 20, causing a career-high three turnovers while scooping four ground balls. Grill helped hold Michigan's Alex Buckanavage, the Wolverines leading scorer from 2019, without a point.Â
The Bridgewater, N.J. native anchored a Maryland defense that surrendered just nine goals to the Wolverines, marking the 26th consecutive game Maryland has won while holding an opponent to under 10 goals.
Maryland returns to action this Friday, February 26 when the Terps travel to face Penn State in University Park, Pa. Faceoff is slated for 5:30 p.m. and the game will air on Big Ten Network.
