Maryland Wraps Up Big Ten Match Play

PALM COAST, Fla. -- Maryland finished the weekend 2-2 with a win against Nebraska in the Big Ten Match Play to open up the 2021 spring season.

The ninth-seeded Terps faced eighth-seeded Michigan State for the first round Friday morning. After a valiant effort and multiple ties, Maryland fell 3-1-1. Dhaivat Pandya found success against the Spartans, finishing 3&2.

Maryland then bounced back against sixth-seeded Rutgers Friday afternoon in the consolation bracket, with Will Koras finishing 3&2, Dillon Brown ending 2&1,  and Austin Barbin finishing 1UP.

Saturday morning the Terps faced Ohio State, with Brown and Barbin both ending 2UP against the Buckeyes, but ultimately fell 3-2.

In the final round of the weekend Maryland came out victorious 3-1-1 against 12th-seeded Nebraska with Christian Park (2UP), Barbin (2&1) and Pandya (1UP) all winning their respective match ups.

"Great to get back on the road. It's been almost a year since we've competed. Felt like the first trip of my coaching career. The guys battled all week. Really proud of the effort. We'll build off this and get ready for the next one" head coach Jason Rodenhaver said.

Maryland will head to South Carolina next to compete in the Kiawah Invitational, Feb. 14-16.
