JOHNS HOPKINS STORYLINES
COLSON COMEBACK
- A two-time IWLCA Third Team All-American, Lizzie Colson returns to the fold for Maryland in 2021 after missing the shortened 2020 season due to an ACL injury which occurred at Team USA tryouts in the summer of 2019.
- The No. 14 ranked player in all of lacrosse by Inside Lacrosse, Colson leads a Maryland defense with her 105 career groundballs, 248 career draw controls and 66 career caused turnovers. Colson's 248 draw controls are fourth all-time in program history and are only six away from third all-time, where she would pass Karri Ellen-Johnson
- Colson's nine caused turnovers this season (three per game), is the highest per game average in the Big Ten and the fourth highest in the country.
BRINDI IS BACK
- Brindi Griffin, who has helped lead Maryland to two national championships, three final fours and five conference championships is back for the 2021 season, taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA for student-athletes that had their season impacted by COVID-19.
- Griffin, a two-time captain, leads the Maryland attack, having tallied 101 goals, 55 assists, 166 points and 57 groundballs over her three and a half seasons. The 2020 Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year was key in Maryland's 2019 National Championship run, scoring nine goals in the Final Four en route to a spot on the NCAA All-Tournament Team.
LEUBECKER SHINES
- Sophomore attacker Hannah Leubecker had a breakout weekend when the Terps last played against Michigan.
- The sophomore was named the Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Week and the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the week after scoring 10 goals on only 14 shots over the two games against Michigan.
- Leubecker scored seven goals in the Friday night game and now leads the Terps with 12 on the season.
B1G SCHEDULE. B1G DOMINANCE.
- The Terps will play a Big Ten only schedule in 2021, playing each of the six conference opponents twice over the course of the season.
- Since Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2015, the Terps are 30-1 in conference play with five Big Ten Regular Season Championships.
- Including the postseason, the Terps are 40-3 against Big Ten competition since 2015.
SERIES HISTORY
- Maryland leads the all-time series with Johns Hopkins 18-0.
- Maryland and Johns Hopkins last met on April 27, 2019, which the Terps won 19-12 to secure an undefeated regular season and clinch the Big Ten title.
- Lizzie Colson had a career-high 10 draw controls in the game, graduate student Erica Evans led the Terps with seven points (six goals, one assist) and Brindi Griffin had three goals and an assist.
