
Alexandrova Notches Win Against Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Maryland women's tennis team put up a strong fight against the No. 10 Buckeyes, with multiple courts going to three sets. Maryland was ultimately defeated by Ohio State 6-1.

Maryland will travel to University Park to face Penn State on Sunday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- DOUBLES*
- No. 1: Ayana Akli and Eva Alexandrova were down 4-5 against Isabelle Boulais and Kolie Allen at the time of the doubles point
- No 2: Minorka Miranda and Ebony Sampson tied things at 3-3 against Luna Dormet and Irina Cantos, but fell to the Buckeyes after they took the next 3 games to win the doubles point 6-3
- SINGLES*
- No.1: No. 89 Akli and No. 71 Cantos battled it out in the first set, with Cantos taking the tiebreaker 7-6. Akli answered back by defeating the Buckeye in a quick 6-0 second set, leading the two to a 10-point tie breaker where the Terp fell 10-7
- No. 2: Alexandrova fought her way back against Allen after losing the first set to take the second, and force a third between the two. The Terp ultimately reigned victorious taking it 0-6, 6-4, 6-3
- No. 3: Miranda fell to Lucia Marzal in two sets despite putting up 5 points of her own in the second, 2-6, 5-7
- No. 4: Kulkarni was defeated by Lisa Hofbauer 3-6, 4-6
- No. 5: Samspon fell to Lina Ali 1-6, 4-6
